Heads up Central Coast - Maldanado's been named a Rep. "Young Gun".

RNC is going to funnel a lot of funds into his campaign against Lois Capps here. I'm reasonably confident Lois will maintain her seat, but just an FYI. So much of the 2012 elections are about House & Senate slots. Encourage any and all local participation.

Yeah, she's an RN. The ANA and local health care groups are strongly in her camp. pinto Jun 2012 #2
I'd think he'd be too moderate for ReiNCe. KamaAina Jun 2012 #3
I think that's the most worrisome thing about him - that he is a bit moderate petronius Jun 2012 #4

Representative Capps is also a Nurse. The American Nurses Association is a very powerful national group too....I see this as a challenge to the RNC and the NRA monies.

Then again, once they get in there, all they do is vote party line anyway, so a pickup's a pickup.

When I first moved here I wasn't as bothered by Maldonado, because he wasn't the worst of our RWers, so I can see that he might have some centrist appeal. I doubt he'll beat Capps, but it's a fight worth paying attention to...
