...when there is NO game?
Are the lots open? Does the parking still cost $35? Are there cheaper options near the park without having to walk a mile? Is there street parking? I have to drive in to SF and do a training thing at AT&T Park this weekend and can't get a straight answer from our coordinators on the parking situation. The parking information on their website is understandably focused on game days, so I'm hoping that the posted information and rates don't apply when the park is empty.

(21,174 posts)The street on the other side of caltrain might be a good place to look.
I didn't think of looking over by Caltrain, and and I'm sure there's street parking over there. My hope is that the big lot at the stadium is open and cheap, but I'm just making contingency plans.

(29,081 posts)I live in Chicago, but may be making an apartment "trade" for a four day visit this summer to San Francisco.
The person who wants to trade with me lives in the neighborhood you seem to be discussing; He
claims he's "two blocks from the At&T ball field, in the South Beach/Soma area".
Not having been in SF for some time, I'm unfamiliar with the area, and just wanted to ask if it's a safe or "iffy" area.
I'm particularly concerned as I'm a female survivor of stranger violence.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to help.

(21,174 posts)You can walk down the embardcaro with relative safety. Though I can't guarantee you being out walking after 10 pm but during the daylight hours no problem. Make sure you bring a lightweight jacket. It can be foggy around 65 degrees with some wind during July and August. Enjoy!

(29,081 posts)I do know about the weather, having lived there for about a year "back in the day" -- 1970-71.

(16,350 posts)on game days. It's cheaper than others in the vicinity and I imagine it is on non-game days too. It's a 10 minute walk to AT&T and the neighborhood is really quiet and beautiful. On the way, stop at Crossroads Cafe. It's good, and affordable, and is run by a nonprofit. Hope this helps!

(46,192 posts)that said, the meters are quite steep in downtown SF --you will learn quickly why they take credit cards.
keep in mind that two hour limits on parking where most meters are means that you won't be able to work and park at that meter, the car will need to be moved every two hours.
be aware that the meters operate on Sundays as well.
