Started this morning in the hills above Glendora. I knew it was only a matter of time.

These Santa Ana winds aren't helping. It's always windy here in North Fontana, but we've had winds for the past three days! According to the weather predictions (which is rarely correct unless they predict the heat) the winds should die down by tomorrow (Friday).
I hope they'll have contained the fires by then.

(7,044 posts)"There was a desert wind blowing that night. It was one of those hot dry Santa Anas that come down through the mountain passes and curl your hair and make your nerves jump and your skin itch.
"On nights like that every booze party ends in a fight. Meek little wives feel the edge of the carving knife and study their husbands' necks. Anything can happen...

(15,438 posts)I've been irritable for the past three days, ever since the winds began blowing. Hot, dry, and bad for allergies, people are more irritable than usual - even those in jobs that have to be courteous to customers.
And we live at the foot of the mountains, so it's big time "Devil Winds" here.
I had a big fight with my daughter on Monday night (have since made up), and it was more contentious than our former "quarrels" (we're both headstrong).
Hm . . . Devil Winds . . . sounds more than apropos here.
Thanks for the image, Berlum!

(3,998 posts)she lived up in Apple Valley. Talk about windy!
I've taking Claritin the last few days. Dog has been sneezing, lol!

(15,438 posts)Fontana is known for its winds. No smog and stuff but LOTS of wind!
My husband and daughter both have allergies and they're been playing up the last few days. I'm, fortunately, not allergic to anything (except gluten), so I'm not suffering allergies as they are.
My Chow's nose dries up badly with weather like this so I have to constantly apply chapstick or it will crack something ugly, but no matter the fact that I'm really trying to help her, she is NOT amused - lol. Come to think of it, she's been sneezing a lot lately, too. Hm...
