Orange County teachers will be making merit pay tests for all non-EOC courses.

A colleague received an email asking her to be part of a test making team to write a test for her subject to comply with Rick Scott's merit pay law. This also part of Barack Obama's Race to the top. May they both burn in hell for their education policies!

The Orange County CTA needs to advise teachers that they do not have to be part of the writing team.

What would happen if no OCPS teacher agreed to be part of the team?

Who in their right mind will write a test that will determine whether their colleagues get a raise? These tests will be rolled out in 2014-2015 and they will not be field tested. They will be invalid and there will be no test security. Someone on the writing team will talk about the exams which will not be fair. Why should any teachers have advance notice of what is on the test?

Say NO to being part of the test writing teams! Our union needs to support us in this!
