Rauner tries to block 'fair share' fees from state workers who don't want to be in unions
Gov. Bruce Rauner on Monday ratcheted up his battle with government employee unions, using his executive power to force a court fight on whether workers who opt not to join a union should have to pay "fair share" fees.
The new Republican governor said more than 6,500 state employees are paying fair share fees in lieu of union dues. Under Rauner's executive order, that money would be put into a special account until a court decides whether the move is legal.
"They call that fair share," Rauner declared in his Capitol office. "Let me tell you. It's anything but fair."
Rauner said a legal team headed by former U.S. Attorney Dan Webb and colleagues at the law firm of Winston & Strawn will handle a case in which the state will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to affirm the governor's position, a move known as a declarative judgment. Unions also could try to go to court to block Rauner's move and state lawmakers have the power to overturn executive orders if they can muster the voters.
The move drew immediate pushback from one of the state's top unions.
“Bruce Rauner’s scheme to strip the rights of state workers and weaken their unions by executive order is a blatantly illegal abuse of power," said Roberta Lynch, executive director of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 31. “It is crystal clear by this action that the governor’s supposed concern for balancing the state budget is a paper-thin excuse that can’t hide his real agenda: Silencing working people and their unions who stand up for the middle class.
“Our union and all organized labor will stand together with those who believe in democracy to overturn Bruce Rauner’s illegal action and restore the integrity of the rule of law," the statement concluded.

I have never, ever had a Republic0n to call my house and I live in the middle of liberal community, talking about what he wants to do for Illinois. I voted for Quinn and I wasn't in love with him either. How the HELL did Rauner get my home telephone number?
since I've never voted "R" in my LIFE -- It was fun letting them know
what I thought of Rauner and the Repukes...I couldn't believe it when they
actually called me AGAIN, so I figured he must have had a shitty campaign staff,
although he DID get elected. Just listening to Thom Hartmann on the radio describe how
Rauner financed his own run to the tune of $20 million , and I STILL can't
believe people here were dumb enough to vote the shithead in.

I truly believed we were sold out because we contributed to the party. Illinois Democrats operates with a super majority...but Rauner won?! There is some suspicious B.S. going on.
I can't help myself. Do you think I'm wrong? (I could be, but...) 
Having said that, I don't know what the national or state party would gain
by giving anything away to the repukes, but who knows?

seems so shape-shifty and byzantine anymore.
As for "giving them anything", like donating?...I donated a bit during the '12 election
and during the mid-terms, but I no longer give to the DSCC or the DCCC, because
I only give to Progressives, and I tell them that when they call me on the phone.

I just thought I'd offer my condolences, and please, your questions
aren't at all dumb, don't put yourself down. 
did they think they'd get a better deal from Rauner? 
I'm guessing it wasn't unanimous, at least, as I remember placing signs
for Quinn from a group that I believe identified itself as "Illinois Educators",
or something.....Still, a major disappointment.
I wish I could vote AGAINST Rahm, too, but I can't because I live in the 'burbs.
