Republican ad knocks Mark Schauer for nursing home fee extended by Gov. Rick Snyder

LANSING, MI -- The Republican Governors Association released what it called a "new attack ad" on Wednesday, criticizing Michigan Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer for a 2002 state House vote that imposed a new per-bed fee on nursing homes.

The only problem?

The "Medicaid Quality Assurance Assessment Program" was backed by Republican Gov. John Engler, won bipartisan support in the state Legislature and was later extended by Gov. Rick Snyder, who Schauer is challenging.

The program was designed to win federal match dollars and then return them to nursing homes that participate in Michigan's Medicaid program.

"By continuing the assessment, the state receives more in federal matching Medicaid funds than what is paid out by nursing homes," according to a 2011 press release from Snyder's office. "These funds are then directed to nursing homes in Michigan that provide Medicaid services." ................(more)

.... that have been airing.

I can't even imagine what it is going to be like during the height of "election season"

The anti-ACA ads running against Peter's are complete untruths (lies) and are particularly enraging

except for the Wings game perhpaps....but I always nuke the commercials so I missed this.

But here's my concern: I gave money to Schauer's campaign, a hundred bucks, and I sent a message. I said: guys, where are the bumper stickers?? You're up against the Koch nazis for crissakes. I've been looking all over your site and no place is there a link where I can purchase a bumper sticker, a lawn sign, anything!!!!

Please tell me you're not the same feckless Michigan Democratic Party that sleepwalked through the election that stuck us with Snyder!! Somebody!!

.....and I received no response. Now, I know I don't deserve any special attention, but sheesh, isn't anybody paying attention?

Maybe somebody here can straighten me out. Tell me I'm an asshole, show me where I missed it. Please!

I'm really really worried that these guys don't know what they're doing. And I really like Schauer. I don't have the time to volunteer right now but I can use the bumper sticker, lawn sign, whatever is possible to do in the small ways I can help.

Sorry to go off topic, but this is Michiganders talking to Michiganders right? Detroit guy shouting out to the rest of you.
