Former counsel testifies in Bruno trial-Former NYS Republican Majority Leader

Glenn Griffith

ALBANY >> The New York State Senate’s former counsel to the legislative majority Monday agreed with U.S. prosecutors’ contention that former Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno did not disclose to him his partnership in owning of horses with Jared Abbruzzese.

Francis Gluchowski, the former counsel, said he also asked Bruno if Abbruzzese had any business with the state and Bruno said no.

Gluchowski was the last witness in a day that saw six prosecution witnesses take the stand in the federal trial of Bruno. This was the sixth day of the trial, which started May 5.

Bruno is being retried in federal court in Albany on two counts of honest services fraud. He is accused of alleged inappropriate and illegal personal enrichment during his year as Senate majority leader. Bruno is being tried before Chief U.S. District Judge Gary L. Sharpe.
