City officials opposed to separate entrances for low-income residents in high-rise buildings want to show developers the door.
The city had approved the so-called poor door, a separate door for low-income tenants in new developments, during the Bloomberg administration. Now, elected officials including Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer and City Councilwoman Helen Rosenthal are calling on the de Blasio administration to undo the policy.
"The two-door system is an affront to New Yorkers' belief in fairness and diversity in our city we all live together," said Brewer. "Changes can and must be made to the city's inclusionary housing program to stop developers from segregating buildings."
