Deal Reached To Limit NYPD Stop-And-Frisk Database

NY1News

The New York Civil Liberties Union announced today a settlement with the city in their lawsuit against the New York City Police Department's stop-and-frisk database policy.

According to the union, police will no longer be allowed to store the names and addresses of those who are stopped but later cleared of all criminal wrongdoings.

The information must be erased within 90 days after charges against an individual are dismissed or resolved with a fine for a noncriminal violation.

The NYPD will still be allowed to store other details, including the race of those stopped, so they can monitor the program.
