What to watch on federal primary day

Welcome to the second of three primary days (and four total election days) of the year.

Polls in New York City and its suburbs open at 6 a.m. Polls everywhere north of Putnam and Orange counties open at noon. All polls remain open until 9 p.m. If you run into problems at the polls, the state attorney general’s office has set up a complaint line at 1-800-771-7755 or civil.rights@ag.ny.gov.

In the Capital Region, we’re focusing on the 19th Congressional District, where there is a four-way race to replace outgoing Republican Rep. Chris Gibson. The 19th district includes part or all of Rensselaer, Columbia, Greene, Schoharie and Montgomery counties.

On the Democratic side, Zephyr Teachout and Will Yandik face off today. On the Republican side, voters will choose between John Faso and Andrew Heaney. Click each candidate’s name for profile stories that ran in the TU this month.

Quick stories on the Timer Warner Cable News debates the candidates participated in are here and here.

And here’s what to watch on primary day in NY-19 — and beyond:

but I expect Siena will do one in the next few weeks.

The Cook Political Report did a generic D v generic R and gave the Democrats a very slight edge at +1.
