NEW YORK (WABC) -- New York City has issued a snow alert for Saturday, but this time meteorologists are not expecting a big winter storm.
The AccuWeather forecast is calling for snow to begin mid-morning, and by 4 p.m., the New York area could see a coating to two inches, with 1-3 inches expected in the areas north and west. High temperatures are expected to reach 30, with subzero wind chills returning Saturday night.
The city sanitation epartment says its workers are loading 365 salt spreaders, attaching plows and preparing chains for the Saturday snow.

(40,416 posts)The dirt roads in front and beside my house are deep in snow. But the snowmobilers are zooming up and down, going to and from the National Forest a mile down the road in two directions.
I do not expect to be able to get out of here for possibly a few days. The drifts in my long driveway are much deeper than a foot and the guy who plows isn't likely going to show up until the roads get plowed.
Hoo boy!

(40,416 posts)I am staying inside until the guy comes and plows me out. I have plenty of food, just got 150 gallons of heating oil, and plenty of home made wine (which I'll dip into shortly).
