Crude oil tank cars derail near Albany

Thirteen tank cars carrying crude oil derailed Friday night at the Selkirk Rail Yard south of Albany.

All 13 tank cars remained upright, no oil has spilled and there were no injuries, according to the state Department of Transportation.

By mid-morning Saturday, nine of the 13 cars had been set back on the tracks, according to DOT spokesman Beau Duffy.

1. Be nice if oil companies paid a few taxes to upgrade our roads and rails.

Perhaps we could levy one and hire lots of people to make sure it was collected.

5. Hmm. I was out and about in Kingston last week.

Thinking back ... I wasn't near the rail yard at all. The only time I was near the tracks was less than a mile when I was on 9W passing through town.
