Casino siting panel sets criteria

James M. Odato

Albany

Prospective casino bidders in New York got partial ground rules for getting in the game, but they'll have to wait a little longer for the critical detail on how much they will be expected to invest in a project.

In the first meeting of the state Gaming Facility Location Board, the three members on Monday agreed that local support was necessary for a winning license. It's a term that's critical to the racino operators at Saratoga Casino and Raceway: Local support is divided in Saratoga Springs on the proposed expansion of the harness track, which currently hosts a video lottery terminal site, into a full-blown casino.
