Tulsas sheriff doesnt want a blind man to lose his business, but a desperate need for money has the duo at odds
In need of money to fund a depleted jail, Tulsa County Sheriff Vic Regalado seeks to assume control of the facilitys lucrative commissary.
The only obstacle standing in his way is the blind businessman who runs the store.
Sheriffs Office officials estimate obtaining the commissary would net about $500,000 annually, a figure they hope will alleviate the Tulsa Jails budget crisis.
It would help the jail pay its bills on time, said Terry Simonson, director of governmental and community affairs at the Sheriffs Office. The bills that we have are slow to pay because the revenue is slow to get.
