Teacher Invited to Come to Corbett's Press Conference, & then Kicked Out for Having an Opinion

http://www.psea.org/general.aspx?id=10500

"Dawn Marshall, a high school science teacher in the Greater Nanticoke School District, was thrilled to be invited to a press conference with Gov. Tom Corbett. She drove two hours to the state Capitol and arrived ready to speak her mind.

The governor's press conference was about his plan to attack school employees' pension system. And Dawn was going to make it very clear that she opposes the governor's pension plan, and always has. There was only one hitch: When the governor's staff discovered she wasn't going to speak in favor of his plan, they told Dawn she could no longer attend.

Barred from the press conference, Dawn decided to write Gov. Corbett a letter....In her letter, she told the governor that a member of his staff had said that she “would not be participating in the press conference, because I do not support your pension proposal. In fact, he went so far to say that I would be ‘embarrassed' if I stood on the stage with you.”

Dawn went on to give the governor a lesson in open government, and good manners, saying: “Governor, I can assure you that I would not have been embarrassed. After all, anyone who has the courage to share their views on an important issue with honesty and integrity will never be embarrassed.”

-----
The most absurd part - Corbett's pension "reform" plan is based upon ideology, not cost savings. The PA. Treasurer estimates it will add $25 billion to the state's pension debt.
