1,000 PA. Bridges to Get Weight Restrictions because of inability of State to Pass Transp. Bill

PennDOT is assuming that the gridlock in passing a transportation bill will continue and that funding will not be released for badly needed repairs to bridges. Therefore, to preserve the remaining lifespan of the bridges and to avoid complete closures from further deterioration, PennDOT is placing strict new weight limits on 1,000 bridges. This means much longer trips by trucks, school buses and other heavy vehicles.
