(18,219 posts)I was talking to someone in the waiting room of my doctor's office today, and he was saying something about an increase in the minimum wage coming. He didn't know much about it, whether it was federal or PA, or whether it was just talk due to the president's comments. I have heard nothing about it, and just remember that Corbett has said recently that he would not support an increase.

(14,779 posts)Like many such proposed laws, it is intended to be rejected by the Majority so the minority can point out the majority oppose whatever law is being proposed.
In Pennsylvania we have a GOP controlled General Assembly and Senate with a GOP Governor, thus the bill has no chance of getting to a vote, let alone being passed.

Bill 1099 increase minimum wage for people who get tips to $4.83 plus tips after January 1, 2014, as opposed to the present rate of $3.83 per hour (The bill also has a third paragraph that sets tip allowance to 70% of the Federal Minimum wage, whatever that is, after January 1, 2015).

(3,121 posts)I am hoping with Corbett tanking in the polls;they might jump on this bill to get into voters good graces before half of the Repugs up for re-election there is always hope that they might use the repug brain and give us something... I know wishful thinking.
