Just watched the Senate primary debate.

I'm supporting Sestak. I'm still pissed that the party machine dumped on him because he opposed Arlen Specter, whom I regarded as Nixon's alter ego.

But I was impressed by Fetterman. And he is not the sort of candidate I am likely to be impressed by. But Fetterman is real.

McGinty -- I could vote for her in the general without hesitation, and Governor Wolf's support means something to me. Nevertheless, I would choose Fetterman over McGinty to "keep it real."

Still for Sestak. But, hey, Admiral -- compound-complex sentences are a little dense for a primary debate. Still -- "they're my sailors." Let's send the Admiral to Washington!

as my first choice. I am so impressed with Fetterman and he would be my first choice if I thought he had a chance in the general. I just wish that he didn't look more like a biker than a politician. As for McGinty, as a Democrat, I will vote for her if she is the candidate, but I will hate myself for it. I volunteered with a DEP roundtable at the time that she was running the organization, and I have a lot of issues with her because of that experience.

opposed the Republican Clarence Thomas enabler Arlen Specter is so stupid. This is one of the several reasons in the past decades that has made me repudiate partly politics.

The state Democratic party has endorsed no one in the Senate race. That was quite a rebuff to ex-governor & current fracking lobbyist, fast Eddie Rendel, who is now McGinty's campaign manager. I'm hopeful this is some indication that the old time, impotent Dem. state machine is on the wane.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee just this month pumped in $1.5 million to McGinty's primary efforts - traditionally the DSCC stayed out of primaries and provides moneys to Dem. Senate candidates only AFTER the primaries, for use in the general election. GOP incumbent, uber conservative Toomey will be extremely well funded and has no primary opponent. That $1.5 million would have made a huge difference if/when spent in the general election, directed against a conservative Republican, rather than directed against Democrat Joe Sestak in the primary.

The DSCC would rather spend the money to punish Sestak for not caving to Rahm Emanuel, Bill Clinton & the Military Industrial Complex, than spend money to get the worst GOP conservative out of the Senate.
