Perry and Cruz don’t embrace Ted Nugent’s language but dodge saying whether they’d campaign with him

Rick Perry said Ted Nugent shouldn’t have called President Obama a “mongrel” and recommended that the 65-year-old rock guitarist and gun-rights advocate apologize. Perry appeared Thursday on CNN’s The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, who peppered him with questions about Republican gubernatorial hopeful Greg Abbott’s decision to have Nugent share the campaign stage this week. Nugent has called Obama a “subhuman mongrel,” denounced female leaders as “fat pigs,” used the N-word and acknowledged having sex with underage girls. At campaign stops in north Texas on Tuesday, Abbott praised Nugent as a “fighter for freedom” because he supports 2ndAmendment rights.

Perry said he wouldn’t have used the words that Nugent used. “We agree that is not appropriate language to use about the president of the United States,” Perry said on CNN. But the Republican governor added, “The idea that Ted Nugent has said something outrageous shouldn’t surprise anybody. He’s been saying outrageous things for a lot of years.” Abbott told reporters he didn’t know about the incendiary comments Nugent had made.

Asked if he would appear on stage with Nugent in the future, Perry avoided a direct answer. “Ted and I have been on the stage together. He is a proud and a strong defender of the Constitution of the United States. We’ve all said things that we’d like to reel back in. I suggest to you this is probably one of those for him.”

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who was also interviewed by CNN, likewise avoided saying whether he would want Nugent to campaign with him in the future. He called the question “hypothetical.” Like Perry, Cruz said he wouldn’t say things the way Nugent has. “Those sentiments, of course, I don’t agree with. You’ve never heard me say such a thing, nor would I.”

Victims of rape should relax and enjoy it, now Gregg Abbott takes a crude Nugent on the road with him and I hope Abbott gets rewarded with the same gift given to Williams, DEFEAT.
