In State of the State, Abbott Proposes Sweeping Agenda

Gov. Greg Abbott, delivering his first major policy address to the Texas Legislature Tuesday, laid out an ambitious agenda for the next two years, including an expansion of pre-kindergarten, massive tax cuts and roads as far as the traffic-glazed eye can see.

It was a something-for-everyone speech, hitting on all the major initiatives he proposed in the 2014 governor’s race and then some.

“Our fellow Texans face many challenges: the need for better schools, more roads, for border security, better health care, more jobs. They want more liberty and less government, and they deserve ethics reforms,” Abbott said. “We can not let their future be defined by these challenges. Instead it is our responsibility to work together to respond to these challenges.”

He promised gun-loving Texans that he’d push for legislation allowing them to openly carry handguns. For fiscal conservatives, he vowed to deliver a leaner government — and said he’d start by cutting his own budget by 10 percent. To middle class parents, he promised to make higher education more affordable. And to immigration hawks, he said he’d take the smugglers and drug cartels head on with 500 new state troopers on the border.

That is the Feds' job, with ICE formerly INS. State troopers don't have jurisdiction over the border.

But then these Repuke idiots have real problems with jurisdiction, which is part of the problem when they start hollering about states' rights. Some things are assigned to the Feds and some assigned to the states according to the U.S. Constitution. They don't understand that, just like Chief Justice of Alabama Roy Moore told the county probate clerks in Alabama they could ignore that a Federal judge in Alabama told them to issue licenses for same-sex marriages.

You don't ignore what a Federal judge tells you. A Federal judge is the Prince of the Realm and you ignore him at your peril.
I think the Repubs that are lawyers must have slept through Constitutional Law which is a required course in law school. They don't get the concept of jurisdiction.
