Search warrant: Austin police officer wanted slain crime victims counselor Dean to abort child
An Austin-area crime victims counselor shot to death in February wrote in her diary and told friends and co-workers soon before her murder that she feared an Austin police officer with whom she had a years-long affair was going to kill her, a new court document unsealed Monday.
For the first time in the month-long investigation, the new 75-page search warrant affidavit links Austin police officer VonTrey Clark to the murder and places him as a member of a conspiracy that includes a longtime Clark associate to kill Samantha Dean.
Dean was seven months pregnant with a child she and Clark thought he fathered, and the affidavit, providing a potential motive for the killing, said Clark had pressured her to abort the baby and told Dean that having the child would damage him.
“Clark told Dean his life will be ruined, and he will lose his family if Dean has the baby,” the affidavit said.
