UT Architecture Dean Cites Campus Carry as a Reason for Departure

http://www.texastribune.org/2016/02/25/ut-architecture-dean-cites-campus-carry-reason-dep/

The University of Texas at Austin's longtime architecture dean announced on Thursday he is leaving, saying the state's new campus carry law played a major role in pushing him out.

Fritz Steiner will take over as dean of University of Pennsylvania School of Design on July 1. The job offers an opportunity to join the Ivy League and return to the school where he earned three postgraduate degrees. But Steiner said he has turned down similar opportunities in the past, and probably would have done the same if people weren't going to be allowed to carry guns in classrooms and other places on the UT-Austin campus next school year.

They'll be their own tier in the college system.

It won't be a high tier.

It can't be okay to bring loaded guns to football games, can it? I assume they've carved out some exemptions.

One of very few to be accepted as a Freshman. I hope they are able to find a suitable replacement.

ARCH school. But...it may hurt them in their recruiting of a candidate. I know the really good faculty can be picky because they have multiple offers. Plus anyone UT would be interested in would already be a Dean or Associate Dean at a top tier school, the gun thing might scare them away.

Congrats to your young person for being accepted as a Freshman that is fantastic!
