South Texas man arrested after threat against 'Pokemon Go' players

HARLINGEN, Texas (AP) — Police say a South Texas man has been arrested after making a threat on Facebook against people playing "Pokemon Go."

Harlingen police say Nathan Cerda warned that he and his friends were going to "purge" people taking part in "Pokemon Go" events this weekend in the Rio Grande Valley.

Police say that in his threat, Cerda "mentioned the use of 'modified' paintball guns and warned everyone to 'not to be walking around.'"

Cerda was arrested on Saturday in his home in Palmview, located about 45 miles west of Harlingen. He was charged with making a terroristic threat.

I even saw one in the San Antonio newspaper that mentioned that people were showing up at a Catholic church because of the Pokemon Go app and another one in the Austin newspaper that mentioned that a man gave up his job to play Pokemon Go. I guess that I shouldn't be too surprised though since my generation was fascinated with pet rocks, mood rings and Chia pets.

I don't get out much so I haven't seen anybody playing the game, but I think of it as opium for the masses. It's unbelievable that some people are so obsessed with a game that they are irreverent and incoherent as to what is happening around them. While I would never threaten any of them, I somewhat understand why the person that was arrested feels the way that he does.

He should get the app and watch to see if one of the characters appears on his property.

when one days, take the day off and sit in a chair our on your front lawn then charge anyone 10 bucks to set foot on your property to get the character.

if not, call the cops.
