Wind turbine construction resumes in north Val Verde County

DEL RIO -- French-owned Akuo Energy has contracted General Electric to assemble 69 wind turbines to produce energy for Wal-Mart and 3M in Val Verde County. The project, which is expected to be functioning by September 1, is currently under construction near the intersection of Highway 277 and Hwy 377, said Akuo Energy U.S. Chief Executive Officer Thomas Sote.

“It’s a great location for wind production it will produce clean renewable energy to the country,” Sote said. “It will help get us off fossil fuels and have a lasting impact on environment.”
