Suspect in Lone Star campus shooting once again fugitive (updated)

HOUSTON—Authorities are once again trying to track down the suspected gunman in the Lone Star College’s North Harris campus shooting; this time for revoking his bond.

Trey Foster, who’s been free on a $50,000 bond since January, did not show up for court on Tuesday, making him a fugitive again.

The first time the 22-year-old went on the run is after he allegedly injured three people during a wild campus shooting because he was angry that someone “bumped him” in the hallway.

Foster and his friend, Carlton Berry, were walking on campus on January 22 when a man named Jody Neal bumped into him. Foster and Neal argued briefly, then went their separate ways.

[font color=green]Foster fleed to Plano after the shooting where he was taken into custody. Records show Foster has a criminal history that includes charges of resisting arrest and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Update: 9:26 p.m.LSC shooting suspect surrenders

Trey Foster, 22, a suspect in the January shooting at Lone Star College, has surrendered to authorities. A warrant was issued for his arrest when he missed a Tuesday court appearance.

Harris County sheriff's spokesman Alan Bernstein told the Associated Press that Foster turned himself in Thursday evening at the Harris County Jail.

Sara Kinney, a spokeswoman for the District Attorney's Office, says he'll be held without bond. A judge revoked his previous $50,000 bond.[/font]

Only in America are you given a 2nd chance.

The right to bear arms, the right to no background checks, and the right to $50,000 bond after trying to shoot several people on a college campus.

My guess is he's somewhere plotting out his next adventure.

Hopefully they find him before he gets to try again.

2. Why in the world a dangerous repeat violent offender would be given a

$50,000 bond is beyond understanding. Hell, if he has a nice truck, all he had to do was let the bondsman hold the title - little or no cash involved.

3. I think that any bondsman that would accept a vehicle title is an idiot.

Why would they want to accept a vehicle title from somebody that will be probably be using that vehicle to jump bail anyway? Legally, the bondsman would still have to pay the cash to the court for the thug (that assumes that the court makes the effort to collect the bond money which doesn't happen in a large number of cases).

I also wonder where this guy came up with the money (probably about $10K) to make bond anyway. I doubt that he is "employee of the month" caliber. Chances are that he just pissed off a relative or a drug dealer when he jumped bail so he should be considered armed and dangerous by anyone that he knows.

5. It's common here in this county to take vehicle titles, welding machine receipts, lots of

physical items. They can do it because even when someone jumps bail, the bondsmen never actually pay the bail - it's negotiated down with the county until they pay about 3/4 of what they got, and if the property is gone, nothing at all.

Don't know how common it is in other counties, but here, it's a routine item on the commissioner court's agenda to accept a settlement from a bondsman. No lose deal for them at all.

I didn't figure this guy had money, so I was guessing a truck.
