Overwhelming number of teachers’ unions recertify in annual election

The following statement regarding preliminary recertification election results in WEAC local teacher bargaining units attributable to Wisconsin Education Association Council President and Racine teacher Betsy Kippers:

“Wisconsin educators who sought recertification overwhelmingly voted to recertify their unions. Preliminary results show that about 91 percent of local teacher associations seeking recertification have succeeded. Of the people that actually voted in these teacher units, 98 percent voted yes for union.

“Even with extreme obstacles that the Walker administration put in the way of local associations seeking recertification, Wisconsin educators are standing strong to take their rightful place in their schools and profession.”

This is good news.
