PolitiFact: Walker wasnt in danger during La Crosse visit.
Did protesters in La Crosse block and then rock Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walkers car in early 2011, soon after the newly elected governor proposed greatly curtailing public employees collective bargaining rights?
Thats what Walker has claimed in both in national media and in his new book, Unintimidated.
But a PolitiFact Wisconsin report today questions whether the events happened Feb. 15, 2011, at Ted Mannstedt & Son, a La Crosse factory, as the governor claims.
From Unitimidated:
We watched in disbelief as the throng of people rushed toward the second exit to block our path. As we tried to pull out, they surrounded the car and began beating on the windows and rocking the vehicle.
From a Walker appearance on The 700 Club, evangelist Pat Robertsons talk show, last month:
Robertson: You were in danger of your life is that the way it was?
Walker: Oh, it was; no doubt about it. We, at one point, coming out of a manufacturing business in La Crosse where they were literally shaking one of our squad cars that the State Patrol was in with me.
.........In todays story, PolitiFact declared the claim in Walkers book that an effort to prevent him from leaving the event placed him in direct danger is false.

(2,354 posts)He's just a ball player. OK, maybe he did something horrible when
he took whatever it was to get over an injury, in the middle of a
tight pennant chase. Or maybe he did more than that.
But no one really knows.
Walker? There's no doubt or wiggle room whatsoever.
