New Wyoming license plates to be mandatory in 2017



CHEYENNE – Driving around this past year, you may have already seen some vehicles sporting the newest incarnation of the Wyoming state license plate.

And you’re about to see a whole lot more of them, as the new plates became mandatory with all vehicle registrations as of Jan. 1.

By state law, Wyoming must change out its license plate design once every eight years. That process began in February 2016, when the current plates featuring the Teton Range with a blue, green and white color scheme began being phased out for anyone who requested an extended registration through 2018.

The new plates will now become standard for anyone whose current vehicle registration expires this year. The new plates include a design that features Lower Green River Lake and Squaretop Mountain in the background, with the color scheme shifting to blue, green and a soft yellow.

in the Castillian colors of red on gold. That's what I have. I hate McPlates.
