Survey shows many IT professionals still use WindowsXP

I am not really asking for help here, at lest not in this post. But I thought this might cheer people up to be aware that they are not the only ones who are attached to Windows XP.

And it seems those not using XP are still using Windows 7.

Overwhelming number of iT folks still use Windows XP

I switched to Macs before any newer OS release.

Not surprised by this news.

Jump aboard every new System Upgrade to some new "Windows Latest."

It is one thing for a huge corporation that employs people to keep abreast of stuff like this. but if you are small business person, you simply don't have time every two years to sit back and learn all about a new system.

Then there is the scary fact that the first big "New System" MicroSoft designed to replace XP was a disaster.

Like a comedian friend of mine once wrote, "Windows Upgrade! I "shutter" to think about it!"

Mostly nothing. I've gotten far more answers elsewhere on the web than I ever found on M$.

Best way to avoid problems is NOT use IE, Outlook and turn Remote Access OFF. Just about every infected computer I see has ALL the updates and it didn't do any good.

The relevance of security updates to most of our use of XP is very marginal, and the rest of Microsoft's support that I've ever used consists of a couple of "fixit" tools that generally addressed problems Microsoft had created itself, and web pages of explanations that have been downright mystifying.

Some people seem to be treating this "withdrawal of support" for XP like armageddon.

Only two things I can think of will lead me to upgrade from XP to a different OS in the foreseeable future, Windows or otherwise: if my work or hobbies need software with capabilities that XP can't support, or if I need to change my hardware and the required drivers etc. wouldn't be available if I continued to use XP.
