Dems are party of austerity to support tax-cut regime (Up w/ Chris Hayes)

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/46979738/vp/48793571#48793938

In the 60s and 70s Republicans were pushing for budget cuts, but they discovered they were just the tax collector of the welfare state. Then they changed their strategy to "starve the beast." Cut taxes and that will force cuts in spending. That hasn't happened.

What has happened because cutting spending is impossible. But what has happened is that the Democrats have become the party of austerity. Now the Democrats are the " 'austerians' for the tax-cut state." This allowed the Republicans to become the majority party. Clearly, fellow Democrats, changing this needs to be the top long-term priority of the Democratic party. We simply can't go on like this!

Check out the video of Corey Robin on Up With Chris Hayes. This interesting section starts at 2:43 into the video.

Edit to correct spelling of name.
