NBC Airs Kardashian Interview on Breast Implants Instead of 9/11 Moment of Silence

This morning, eleven years from September 11, 2001, there was a moment of silence in Washington, D.C. and New York City at 8:46 a.m., when the first plane hit the towers. Most news networks, including ABC, CBS, Fox, MSNBC, and CNN, interrupted programming to honor the anniversary, breaking the quiet only with an extra solemn rendition of "Taps." Locally, WNBC cut into the Today show with 9/11 coverage, but nationally, NBC trucked right through with an interview of Keeping Up With the Kardashians mom Kris Jenner. "Is there ever a time when you're like, Okay, we can turn those cameras off now?" host Savannah Guthrie asked, fittingly, about Jenner's televised breast augmentation. "I thought it was such a great idea to film that," Jenner said. Cue "Taps." America.

2. 9/11 on 9/11 just doesn't garner ratings anymore.

we live in short attention span society. Where even the tragedy of thousands of people losing their lives during a national emergency is deemed unworthy of a good time slot on tv.

people want things that matter, that effect them directly. Like, you know, plastic boobs on rich women who have limited talent supported by and even more limited IQ who are famous for nothing. That's what grabs all the ratings these days! 9/11 is too much of a buzz kill.

Kris Jenner, the matriarch of the Kardashian family, famously cheated on her first husband, the late Robert Kardashian -- a close friend of Simpson's -- and had Khloe soon after. It's been widely speculated that Robert Kardashian was not actually Khloe's father, and O.J. Simpson and even Jenner's hair stylist have been touted as candidates.

Robert Kardashian was one of Simpson's attorneys in his 1994-95 murder case and the Kardashian family had close ties with both him and his slain ex-wife, Nicole Brown.
