Colombia's women's cycling jerseys are unintentionally vagina-like

We are not in the field of jersey design. However, we feel confident stating a rule all uniform designers should stick by: if your jersey makes it look like your athlete is naked, you have done a bad job designing your jersey.

The person who designed Colombia's women's cycling jerseys did a bad job:

Those are not actually see-through -- merely flesh colored and as tight as cycling jerseys are supposed to be, as aerodynamics are kinda important in cycling -- but they really look like it. They really, really look like it. We didn't fully convince ourselves that they weren't see-through until we noticed the bikers themselves had different skin tones.

Nor do I believe it was unintentional.

Most assuredly a poor choice in wardrobe. Am I to believe not a one of those women looked in a mirror? Are they forced to wear it? I have no idea, but I'm not angry about it. It's silly as hell. Someone should have said something.

People aren't saying it was deliberate, but they are saying that the riders look naked, that -- owing to where the padding is put on those outfits (they're designed for people who sit on a bike seat for long periods of time) they emphasize one part of the anatomy--one wag said "Are we sure that's not the Brazilian team?" -- and pretty much everyone is marking those outfits up as one big honking FAIL.

and so degrading that heads should roll. Not funny, not cute, not accidental, IMO. And anyone who thinks otherwise is just as disgusting. (Misogynistic for sure.)

14. Colombian women’s flesh-coloured cycling kit ‘unacceptable’, says UCI

The design of a new flesh-coloured kit that makes a Colombian women’s cycling team look naked below the waist has been described as unacceptable by Brian Cookson, the president of the UCI.

Photographs of the Bogota Humana team were taken at the Tour of Tuscany, showing six women wearing red and yellow kit with flesh-coloured material immediately above and below the waist. It is unclear if the team intend to wear a similar uniform next week while representing Colombia at the road world championships in Ponferrada, Spain.

After the pictures went viral on social media, Cookson tweeted: “To the many who have raised the issue of a certain women’s team kit, we are on the case. It is unacceptable by any standards of decency.”
