PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) Think you know where your polling place is for next weeks Rhode Island presidential primary? Youd better double check.
The R.I. Board of Elections plans to open only 144 of Rhode Islands 419 polling places for the April 26 primary, cutting the number by two-thirds compared with a typical November election, which will reduce the cost of administering the vote.

(3,231 posts)I have been voting in RI for a long time and I have never, ever, waited in line. Not once. Not one person in front of me.
I wish they would close more of them. It's a waste of money.
I don't think people get what a small place Rhode Island is.

(3,231 posts)Is normally the elementary school in my neighborhood - it has moved to the senior center at the other end of the parking lot (with a high school between) - they are BOTH usually polling places which is a GIANT waste of money.
I swear all these people screeching about voter suppression are a bit crazy - they don't know a thing about this state and they are tearing their hair out over it.

I've been advised that voter suppression cost Bernie the state of New York. Somehow, the person telling me this was unclear as to how it worked, exactly.

(51,084 posts)I'm not aware of there being a slew of voting machines at any of our voting locations like have seen on tv in other states. The last time I voted at my voting location in there were only two machines.
