Bombshell Poll: Nearly 20% Of Republicans Will Vote For Hillary Clinton If Trump WinsBy Jason Easley on Mon, Apr 25th, 2016 at 4:57 pm
A new Suffolk University poll has found that 19% of Republicans say they will support Hillary Clinton if Donald Trump wins the Republican nomination.
A new Suffolk University poll has found that 19% of Republicans say they will support Hillary Clinton if Donald Trump wins the Republican nomination.
The poll contained some numbers that should terrify Republicans. 40% of Republicans polled said that they would not support the partys nominee if Donald Trump wins. 25% of the anti-Trump Republican vote would consider voting for a third party candidate. 19% of the never Trump Republicans would vote for Hillary Clinton, and 18% would stay home and not vote at all. By gender, 10% of men, and 9% of Republican women would vote for Clinton over Trump. 18% of very likely Republican general election voters would support Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump.

(24,378 posts)for the platform, just as she doesn't have to worry about appeasing the zealous Bernie-or-bust crowd.
75% of Sanders voters say they'll vote for Hillary. The remaining 25% represent under 10% of the Democratic electorate. 20% of Rs crossing over to vote for Hillary more than doubles any votes Hillary will not get from the BoB crowd. And it's a net gain of 40 points as that 20% is subtracted from Trump's vote.

She will have all the votes she needs in the general!

(1,968 posts)will return to vote for Clinton once they realize their tantrum was useless and...well, Trump, for Pete's sake.
I also expect the 20% to rise. My mother already went from Trump-neutral to Trump-loathing and she's pretty attentive to the news. As others hear from him, they'll dislike him.

Anyway, he stated to me that he is a Republican and he doesn't know what he is going to do this election. He is not happy. This is in Indiana.

(11,816 posts)100% tax-focused, not Tea Party or Religious Right types. All okay to talk politics with because they're not fanatics. None will vote Trump. They say they'll vote Hillary of not at all. 'Not at all' actually works better for me because it keeps them home and keeps them from votifing down ballot for Toomey here in PA.

(50,504 posts)They won't vote for President but the rest of the ballot.
It would be better though if they stayed home.

(17,865 posts)It sorta negates the Bernie supporters declaring to hold their votes if they don't get what they want. Which is basically to pretend Bernie won and do everything he wants. If Republicans are switching sides to Hillary, the Purists aren't needed.

(218 posts)Trump is far too dangerous and filled with hate to hold on to 80% of the R party.
Although I guess a huge chunk will just stay home. (And there goes the down ticket races... )

Hillary's already been vetted, they won't find anything new on her. And she won't make any fatal mistakes.
And even if women (like me) don't like Hillary, we can't help wanting a woman in the white house.
It's all over. The only thing we don't know is how all the 'news' channels will fill the next 5 months of airtime.
