Sanders Threatens Floor Fight at Dem Convention

" Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is threatening a floor fight over rules and platform planks at the party's summer convention if the Democratic National Committee stacks the committees with supporters of Hillary Clinton.

Sanders writes in a letter to Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz that the makeup of the standing committees should reflect the level of support that he and Clinton received in the primaries and caucuses.

He says many of his supporters have not been included and notes Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy will be in charge of the convention's platform committee and former Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank will run the rules committee. He calls both "aggressive attack surrogates" for Clinton."

I have one comment to Sanders, go back to Vermont, I am really tired of your whining bullshit. Maybe you can start another lawsuit, or better yet, why not join Larry Klayman and judicial watch, that is more your style

If anything, these threats only embolden the DNC to find ways to marginalize Sanders at the convention.

I have never seen a losing team trying to dictate terms to the winners. It's as if the Carolina Panthers told the Denver Broncos that they can have the Super Bowl trophy as long as the Panthers get the trip to Disneyland, the victory parade and the photo-op at the WH.

If he cares about the Democratic Party so much, why did he not join it until 6 months ago--when he was forced to in order to get on the primary ballot? And why is he designated as an Independent on his Senate re-election run?

The time for the sort of changes he is demanding is well before the convention, in the unglamorous work of sitting in Dem Party meetings. The convention is the time to show party UNITY, not discord.

For years, his radio show featured "Brunch with Bernie", which seemed to showcase a rather avuncular, sane-sounding regular Joe, who'd take questions from listeners. I admit I was duped. I'd always wonder, for example, why this nice guy was never featured on shows like "Meet the Press".

Well, I don't wonder any more. I'm now kind of replaying in my mind the times I listened to him answer listener's questions and it came flooding over me that he simply responded to questions with talking points. He never offered solutions. He never had any new or solid proposals. He hung almost everything he or any other elected official has done on the Iraq War Resolution (which, by the way, he didn't even vote for or against because he was not in the Senate at the time - his vote was on a different resolution).

In reality, he seems didactic and aggressive, he shouts down contrary points of view, and has created a contingent of supporters who seem willing to dispense with any civility whatsoever (disrupting the Snohomish County Democratic Convention in Washington and the behavior at Hillary's event last night are just two recent examples of this behavior). I feel kind of sorry for his more mild-mannered supporters, but there is clearly something in his candidacy that is unloosing some really mean behavior that very much mirrors the anger and misbehavior of Trump supporters - and his supporters don't even see it.

I'd be curious to hear Hartmann's take on some of this wild crowd behavior (he's a soft spoken guy himself). I don't know if he simply excuses Sanders and these tactics or if he is just finding out about this side of Bernie too.

Said Rep. Barney Frank, in ’91: “Bernie alienates his natural allies. His holier-than-thou attitude—saying in a very loud voice he is smarter than everyone else and purer than everyone else—really undercuts his effectiveness.”

They need to be at the Trump rally, not smashing up a Democratic candidate's rally.

This is the scorched earth behavior his bros here have been threatening all along. Now we see it in action -- if Sanders does not call these people off and denounce this behavior, we will know for sure that it is not about winning any more, but about destroying the Democratic Party even if we end up with the vulgar talking yam proto-fascist in the White House.

This is pissing me off.
