“Isn’t it possible that some women — perhaps younger women, perhaps others — might not respect Hillary Clinton for the way she stood by Bill Clinton?” the MSNBC host suggested. “And according to Donald Trump’s analysis, you know, enabled [Bill Clinton] — whatever that means.”

“Absolutely not,” Richards replied. “This is not an issue on anyone’s mind. What women are thinking about is issues that our patients at Planned Parenthood think about. They’re not getting equal pay in this country, there is no access to affordable child care, they need access to health care. There are now 24 states that are trying to end their access to basic birth control and cancer screenings.”

“These are the issues that are on the mind of American women,” she pointed out. “And Donald Trump, instead of actually address those, he’s going after this personal attack on Hillary Clinton. It’s absolutely not going work. And it’s not what the American voters want to hear about.”

Various supporters of Hillary Clinton have spent the 2016 election season expressing the view that MSNBC reporter Andrea Mitchell has become obsessed with focusing on Hillary’s real or imagined negatives, particularly things from her distant past. As it turns out, they’re not the only ones who have come to that conclusion. Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards was attempting to speak on women’s rights but was instead dragged by Mitchell into a discussion about supposed Hillary controversies. Richards was having none of it.

Cecile Richards was speaking about the distressing nature of Donald Trump’s sexist attacks on Hillary Clinton and on women in general. But Andrea Mitchell instead tried to shift the conversation to Bill Clinton’s affairs while in office, indicating that Hillary was somehow responsible for it. Richards steered the discussion back on topic:
..........................................But Mitchell refused to let it go.

“How does she avoid responding to this,” Mitchell asked. Richards continued speaking about women’s rights. Mitchell then asked how Bill Clinton would handle Trump’s attacks. That’s when Richards pulled off the proverbial mic drop, pointing out that Bill Clinton “isn’t on the ballot.” Watch the exchange below:
