Thinking about it, it would be a "good fit" on many levels.

I know he has some unfavorable history regarding the School of the Americas, but he is also very experiencsd and very intelligent. I think he might be her best choice.

As is his age. He's 71. The VP needs to be "The Future." Not the past--and not the divisive past, certainly. The only reason Obama got away with an old VP is because he was youthful and lacked experience. Biden was playing Cheney to his Bush, if you will forgive the horrific analogy.
HRC needs to pick a young up-and-comer. Someone who thinks on their feet, takes direction well, doesn't go off message, is camera-friendly, knows when to zip it and knows how to give a non-answer answer when needs must.
She doesn't NEED any "experience" on the ticket, and certainly not his. She was the damn Secretary of State--the most SENIOR position on the entire cabinet, senior to Defense and all the rest of the players. She's got way more experience than Clark, and he has some hard negatives that the right wing would love to drag up (militarily-related, having nothing to do with his messy private life). He is just not on the short list, no matter what TV pundits say.

Gert I think would be against his taking any office. She got very upset with the smears they through at him the last time. It was her that said no to the second run much to all of our disappointments.

(7,572 posts).....and I think he has remained an inside friend of her family and perhaps unofficial advisor....I remember the day she went back to her Senate office after the primary and convention, the first person she met there was Wesley Clark. I've been a little surprised though that he has not publicly campaigned for her this time, though, as far as I know.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2389919/General-Wesley-Clark-68-STILL-divorced-wife-46-years-blindsided-left-her.html
He dumped his lovely, kind, highly regarded and long-suffering wife of a half century for a Chinese woman young enough to be his GRANDDAUGHTER. She is in her early thirties, a former Goldman Sachs banker, who now calls herself an "entrepreneur."
Update: Shauna just got married--to her partner at her business. She and Wesley parted ways: http://pagesix.com/2016/04/23/shauna-mei-has-a-new-soulmate/
As near as I have figured out (and I could be mistaken) Wes and Gertrude (she was a very nice lady the few times I met her) aren't divorced (notwithstanding what the article above says) --there's a bit of Catholicism in the way of all that.
He's not an easy person to get along with. He can be ... imperious. I had a few encounters with him when I was on active duty, and it is my considered view that he's not the best choice for the job. Also, he's too old (71). There needs to be some youth and vigor for a bit of balance on the ticket, and a guy who is in his seventies with a way-too-young girlfriend doesn't provide that balance.
I would be both shocked and disappointed if she chose Clark for the number 2 gig.

(25,457 posts)I seem to recall spending some time in DU Clarkies and/or another site whose name escapes me that was set up by another DUer, but I got so frustrated with how Clark fans were treated by the mods here that I kind of swore off political sites completely for a while. I came back around '08 but didn't stay all that long.
I'm not really sure why I'm back now, frankly. I picked about the worst possible time to return, though I'm slowly realizing that it's becoming an outlet for my ever-present, inherent sarcasm. haha
Now, I have to stay if only to see what they do with the place post-6/14. I hope (and believe) that Skinner is going to wield the banhammer with abandon, so maybe it can become a halfway tolerable place to be again.

(47,139 posts)She set it up real nice looking, she had some graphical skill. There were like 4 of us that ran it together, WesDem was another. After the 04 campaign was over a bunch of folks joined from here, but it quieted down a lot after a few months. Can't recall if you were a member there but I definitely remember you here at DU.
I seem to recall we were considered invaders here, lol. It was the Deanies v the Clarkies v the old timers.
I am also looking forward to seeing what happens here after the Primary.
TwilightZone
(25,457 posts)the time I'd had it with this place, so I really didn't contribute much or for very long even though it was a refuge from here.
A lot of the animosity here had to do with Clark being a former moderate Republican, of course, and the Deanies and the others never really accepted him as a Democrat. The funny thing was that after he dropped out, he campaigned like hell for a ton of down-ticket Dems and was a great asset. We knew he would; no one else did. lol
Like anyone, he has his faults and the internment thing was a little odd (though, he apologized), but still love the guy. I hope he helps again this fall. He would hand Trump his ass on foreign policy.

(31,810 posts)Strategic Level - No.
Does he want to - No.
We have some really excellent Gen X politicians on our side - and I'd like to see someone in that role who bridges Gen Y/Millenials and Boomers/Silents.
I'm not saying we are NOT Cynical Assholes - we are. But on the left we seem to have a stake in both our older folks (Social Security - Giving Women Seniors a desperately needed Raise) and how college debt impedes commerce (Getting married, buying homes, having children, traveling) for the Y's.
He's not the bridge.
