In 1991 Hillary Clinton filed her husband's papers to run for President. In 2015 she filed her own.
Twenty-four years ago, Hillary Clinton stopped by the New Hampshire State House to file paperwork to run for president—for her husband, Bill.
“I filed my husband's candidacy papers in December of 1991, and there was nobody there. Like: ‘Who is this guy from Arkansas? Who are you?’ ‘Well, I'm his wife, and I'm filing his papers.’”
This week, she went back to file her own papers.
A couple things had changed.

HILLARY: The election is about on the economy, right?
AUDIENCE: Yes!
HILLARY CLINTON: That's what it was about back when my husband ran, back in '92 in New Hampshire. That's what it's still about. But even though we've made progress, we haven't made enough. Jobs have returned, but people's incomes have not been rising. That is the center of my economic agenda: Get those incomes rising again. Close those loopholes. Make the wealthy pay their fair share. Let's make sure that we have an economy that works for everybody again, where incomes rise! ...
And so I stand here before you … as somebody who is so grateful for my parents and for my own life, asking you to help me be the nominee of the Democratic Party, then to be elected president, not just to break that highest, hardest glass ceiling—although, that will happen. But to help me, working with you, to build an America where everybody believes that what happened in my life will happen in theirs.
