Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumWhat is really surprising that is going unchallenged on DU... The attacks on other Democrats
There are all sorts of posts against any Democrat that supports Hillary of late on DU.
This never would have been allowed to stand in previous elections. It is just astounding IMO.

(256 posts)This message board is horrible, it seems like it's been taken over and run by rabid Bernie supporters. It's seriously become unpleasant. There are no fair arguments made just name calling and making posts personal. It's like the majority of the board is made up of middle school kids.

(256 posts)Makes me resent the hell out of him. You do know most of his demographic are young millennial males right? I bet the older ones were Nader voters or the same silly purists who like to whine and complain about DINOs all day. (I've actually been here longer than my profile says, I had another profile name back in 2004 on here when we were going insane over GWB, I remember people bashing Kerry then too...when I came back in 2008 I had forgotten my old username and didn't have the same email). This crew has always loved to bash their own, but it's taken a new obnoxious level.
Maybe in Bernie's mind he thinks this is what our party needs? I still think he seems too nice to really want his followers to act like idiots like this. I usually just post during election periods because I finally have to leave and take a breather from some of the crazy going on.
Don't know you well but you seem like one of the nice ones and it's a shame that the quality nice members feel like they want to leave and nothing is being done. Are the mods just apathetic at this point?
At least we know the majority of our party doesn't post on here and we probably have more allies than we think. I guess we will see after this primary!

(12,799 posts)Bernie has been a reliable ally for the Democratic party all of his career. For those of you who resent his late coming to the party, understand that for many, that is an asset to his campaign. Whether it is true or not, Bernie is associated in many minds with allegiance to policy over party. If I were to give a word of advice to the Hillary campaign, appealing to party affiliation is not a winning issue.

We're quite capable of assessing the situation.

(1,197 posts)I guess we shouldn't lump every Bernie follower in the same group of Bernie supporters as those on DU, but those on DU are absolutely outrageous in their hatred for Hillary. It's unbelievable. They accuse her of everything, including 'screeching'! Which makes me wonder if it's about how much they support Bernie or if it is about a woman having the audacity to run for President when she has that screechy woman's voice, boobs, female clothing, except for the pants, and a brain and experience. It seems really really scary enough to them for them to go on constant ridiculous attack. Certainly there is a difference in their plans for the future, although we don't really know the details of Bernie's plans.
I know this isn't good for the Democratic Party, and it is especially discouraging because the candidate isn't a Democrat and has made no bones about that fact for twenty years.

(28,270 posts)There are more anti democratic attacks here than freakrepublic
Andy823
(11,495 posts)Many of those doing the attacking, are also the same bunch that went after president Obama from day one and started bashing him. They are the same group that wanted to purge the Democratic party of anyone that didn't meet their purity test. They are the same group started their own group last year and pushed the "anyone but Hillary" meme. Their fearless leader was banned back in December I think for trying to get others to join him in writing in Bernie's name if Hillary won. He also was promoting his followers to "protest" at an event Hillary had. His group started their own site where because they "claimed" they were being picked on here, yet they still come here everyday to trash and bash, spew their hate, and as someone else pointed out, dominate the jury pole here.
Everyday more and more GOP trolls flood in here and are welcomed with open arms by this group, at least the trolls that "claim" they are Bernie supporters. Other trolls also come in to help keep the fighting going, and to divide DU. GD-P has become a war zone, and the vast majority of threads or not about issues, but about trashing and bashing. I have decided to stay away from there because it's do damned crazy.

(7,886 posts)You think they should be banned as well?
MelSC
(256 posts)Haven't seen one, but honestly wouldn't blame them for feeling that way if these are the only other dems they talk to on a regular basis. Most likely and empty threat. But yes both should be treated the same...I would vote for Bernie if that was the only choice bc I wouldn't want a Republican in office. I wouldn't be happy about it, but I would. For some reason, in 2008, I was upset about ahillary not winning the primary but I really grew to love Obama. He was also a true Democrat
Unless Bernie runs as an Independent then seriously fuck him and his entire bandwagon. It will be their fault we will have a Republican president. Honestly, I'm older and financially secure I won't mind the tax breaks....it's not me who will be harmed by another Republican prez...it will be Bernie's demographic.

There's quite a cohort of Sanders fans here, however, who want Bernie or they'll "bern " the house down. And they say it out loud.

Here's what I said: Concerned about the vitriol
I find DU at present very disturbing. In particular the vitriol spewed out about Hillary Clinton. What in the world is DU going to do if she becomes president? The negative vibes seem even worse than when she was running against Obama.
Perhaps, DU needs to consider whether making an official statement about the underlying motivations for the vitriol other than what is being said. Perhaps, DU needs to look within to understand the hatred. The intensity of the hatred is explained by more than what is being purported. It goes much deeper than that. I have some theories but choose not to expose the because I don't feel like being vilified myself.
I think DU needs to do some reflection on what it's all about.

1. I agree the vitriol is awful. But I also believe the vast, vast majority of DUers...
...will rally around the eventual nominee, whoever it is. We've had two contested primaries before, and every time DUers put the primaries behind them and support the nominee.
Those who don't typically get the boot.
