It was rude and unprofessional of Sanders fan to do this. Not surprised given their behavior on social media sites--it was bound to flow out into public events.

sanders angy mob
Last night supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders repeatedly interruputed Sen. Jeanne Shaheen while she was speaking at the New Hampshire Democratic Partys annual McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner. In my more than 30 years of attending Democratic events in New Hampshire, Ive never witnessed rudeness and disrespect like this.
Jeanne Shaheen was the first woman elected governor of New Hampshire. She was the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from New Hampshire. She is the only woman in United States history to be elected both a governor and a U.S. senator. Much to the dismay of her campaign strategists during her 2014 reelection campaign, Jeanne Shaheen ranks pretty high on all the various scorecards measuring how liberal senators voting records are
Why in the world would Bernie Sanders supporters treat this woman who made the Democratic Party a winning party in New Hampshire so disrespectfully?
Because she supports Hillary Clinton for president? Thats too simple. I dont think people are motivated to heckle a sitting U.S. Senator speaking at a Democratic Party event named in her honor simply because shes supporting a different candidate.
Every four years in New Hampshire we have NHDP events where all the competing candidates for the Democratic nomination and New Hampshires current Democratic officeholders speak. Ive been attending these tpes of gathering since 1987. They can be rowdy. Each candidates supporters tries to outdo the other with cheers and applause for their candidate. Grown men and women jump up and down cheering. Its silly and its fun. But never before last night have I witnessed one candidates supporters heckle another candidate or that candidates backer dring a speech................

(3,967 posts)"Im not saying Bernie Sanders instructs his supporters to interrupt and heckle the speech of a U.S. Senator.
But what Benie Sanders does is constantly tell us is Congress is corrupt and the political system is corrupt, and he calls for a political revolution. His supporters clearly have internalized this message. And if you believe Congress is corrupt and the political system is corrupt and what we need in this country is a political revolution, why would you show any respect to the senior U.S. Senator from New Hampshire? And not only is she in the corrupt Senate, she supports the devil herself, Hillary Clinton!"

(11,495 posts)If he was, he should have put a stop to it. This kind of thing will backfire on Sanders. When your supporters are this rude it makes the candidate look bad if they don't do something to control those people. I don't think all of his supporters are this way, but those who are are not helping him at all, and I sometimes wonder why they continue to make him look bad if they really want him to get elected.

(3,967 posts)The article just says he constantly tell us is Congress is corrupt and the political system is corrupt, and he calls for a political revolution.
That is how the article suggests he has encouraged it.
I am not sure I would call that encouragement. I personally would not take that as encouragement to be rude to Shaheen.

(16,104 posts)Senator Shaheen was preceding Hillary's appearance.
She said New Hampshire Democrats are respectful of each other.

Extremism incites.

(254 posts)What those people did to Mrs Shaheen is very rude but to try and blame it on Bernie Sanders is beyond ridiculous. It's like saying that those two Black Lives Matter activists who rudely interrupted Bernie Sanders's rally and took over his microphone are Martin Luther King's fault for making blacks so uppity with his speeches about equality, revolution and self-improvement.
Sorry, but that is some very, very weak sauce.

(12,316 posts)If anyone whisper an occurance against him, your post will be deleted...That is my experience. The Democratic Discussion has been hijacked.
I'm not even able to speak, discuss how a Career, 50 year- politician as an Independent can run as our Democratic Leader after only switching to the Democratic Party 9 months ago? Secondly, how can the Democratic supporters reject Hillary with her solid, loyal life long fight as a Democrat? It goes against my soul I tell ya.

(1,968 posts)I was also born in an extended city area that has more than that (about 850,000). I never realized VT was that tiny!
Or, Vermont's Senators each serve a number of people far smaller than my House Representative does!

Can't BELIEVE that comment got hidden--I guess no one is allowed to make any critique of "anointed ones" here on DU. That was just a lousy hide.

(92,116 posts)book have no problem being allowed. When OPs go on ad-nasium telling Hillary supporters to "go F* themselves", in the words of Susan Sarandon paraphrases, there is nothing wrong with that. "it is only free speech"
Same as when some of these same folks rushed to the defense of those that used the "c" word when describing Hillary, or calling President Obama a "POS, FU, etc".
It is actions like this that are more damaging to Bernie than anything else, and will contribute a large part to his defeat

I'm nobody, but I live in a town of a little more than 20,000 people, and I'm on a first name basis with five of the last six mayors (one republican) in our town. It's no big deal.

(3,825 posts)find a more comfortable home over at FR. I'm sick of their bullying behavior, rudeness and ugly behavior. I keep thinking back to Nader and what happened in the 2000 election. We got 8 years of a disaster called Bush. I once thought Bernie was a good man, now I'm not so sure. Wreck it at any cost, mostly egotism, and then sit back and watch the disaster unfold if a Republican should take the White House. With the Senate, House and Presidency, we won't survive and I'm thinking they don't give a fuck.

Some of the things I've seen in the last few weeks have been worse than right wing dirty tricks.
This is not the way American candidates run their campaigns.
