Statements by Lula in Colombia Praised

Bogota, Nov 11 (Prensa Latina) Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva''s statements at the Latin American and the Caribbean Conference on Social Sciences (Clacso) and his support for the Colombian peace process made headlines in the domestic media today.

"I am here to support the Colombian Government in a necessary process of negotiation that is a challenge to build peace for the new generations", said Lula, leader of the Workersâ�Ö Party of Brazil, whose statements were published by important newspapers today.

Lula, accompanied at the lecture he gave in Medellin by mayors of Bogota Gustavo Petro, and Antioquia Anibal Gaviria, mentioned the progress achieved by the negotiations underway in Havana between the Colombian Government and FARC-EP.

He also expressed his certainty that a final peace agreement will be reached soon in Havana between the Government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-Peopleâ�Ös Army (FARC-EP).
