RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) Police in Brazil say gunmen killed a businessman who last year was convicted of selling fake medicine.
Police say attackers fatally shot Miguel Angelo Santos Jacob on Wednesday shortly after he dropped his son off at school in Rio de Janeiro's posh neighborhood of Barra da Tijuca.
Jacob owned a company that produced and distributed fake Glivec, a medicine used in the treatment of leukemia.
Last May, he was sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison, but he was allowed to remain free pending the outcome of his appeal.
