Bolivian Capital Reaches 2.8 Million Inhabitants


La Paz, Jul 17 (Prensa Latina) The department of La Paz has today 2.8 million inhabitants, a figure that makes it the second most populated in Bolivia, as confirmed by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

The report issued by the entity said the territory had 2,842,000 settlers, more than 1,000 compared to those counted in the census taken in 2012.

In 2011, the region had almost 2,350,000 inhabitants, it said. According to the document, the proportion between men and women is 50 percent for each sex.

The report explained that in the municipality El Alto, 31.7 percent of the population in that department and 27.9 percent in the municipality of La Paz. Meanwhile, 40.4 percent of the population there is distributed in the rest of the municipalities.
