Honduran Police Evicts Demonstrators Against Dam

Tegucigalpa, March 22 (Prensa Latina) Honduran police forces evicted with tear gas dozens of demonstrators against the installation of a hydroelectric dam in southern Honduras.

Earlier in the day, residents of about six communities blocked up a road passage in this area so as to speak out against Progelsa project, which has been affecting the water connection.

With banners in hands, protesters stressed that Progelsa is trying to build a dam on Petacon hill, where Reitoca river flows, without taking into consideration how much it would affect surrounding communities.

The outcries soon brought about a traffic jam in the zone, reason why anti-riot agents were mobilized to break it up.
