Former Colombia Police General sentenced to 13 years in US prison .

Retired Colombia police general, Mauricio Santoyo, on Friday was sentenced to 13 years in a United States prison for aiding and abetting Colombian paramilitaries.
The former general was convicted of drug trafficking and accepting bribes from the defunct right-wing paramilitary group, the AUC. Santoyo was accused of helping the paramilitaries evade police for seven years from 2001 to 2008, including the three years he served as the chief of security for Colombia's polarizing ex-president, Alvaro Uribe.
Before receiving his 13-year sentence, Santoyo expressed regret.
"I admit that I was wrong. I made mistakes and I am responding to them. I apologize to my family and I ask (for) consideration and kindness," said the ex-general.
Santoyo admitted to taking bribes from the AUC (classified as a terrorist group by the United States) in return for tipping off the paramilitaries of impending military operations.

Notice the dates--nearly coincident with the Bush Junta. Colombia was never more seriously a terrorist state than during that period. A Bushwhack-chosen mafia boss was running the country, for godssakes! AUC terrorism was running rampant under him (Bush pal Alvaro Uribe). Some one hundred of Uribe's closest associates are under investigation, or already in jail, for drug trafficking, for ties to AUC's death squads, for illegal domestic spying (on judges and prosecutors, as well as union leaders and other advocates of the poor targeted for death) and other crimes. I think that what Uribe, AUC and the Colombian military were doing was consolidating the drug trade into fewer hands--driving FIVE MILLION peasant farmers from their lands, for instance--and better directing its trillion-dollar revenue stream to certain beneficiaries (the banksters, Bush Junta principles, God knows who).
And HOW Mancuso happened to end up in U.S. hands is that URIBE, in cahoots with the U.S./Bush Junta ambassador to Colombia, Wm. Brownfield, did a midnight extradition over the vociferous objections of Colombian prosecutors.
What does THAT tell you about Mancuso? Probably that he's lying to save his skin. What might he be lying about? Guesses: U.S. military involvement with AUC's horrors? U.S. military contractors' involvement? Brownfield's involvement? (There is evidence that Brownfield had a direct American liaison to Uribe's spying agency.) Rumsfeld's involvement? (There is some interesting evidence that he was involved in designing OSP-style dirty tricks in Colombia, namely, the "miracle laptop."
More dirt on the involvement of U.S. transglobal corporations (Chiquita, Drummond Coal, Monsanto, Chevron, Exxon Mobil) or U.S. war profiteers (Blackwater comes to mind)? How the money was being "laundered"? Who was supplying Bush Jr. with cocaine? There are a lot of possibilities for info that he may be withholding to get a mere 13 year sentence and for him not being assassinated in a U.S. federal prison.
WHY did URIBE and the BUSHWHACKS extradite him? That is the question. And the most likely answer is to SHUT HIM UP.
