Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos' approval rating dropped five percentage points to 78% over the past month amid increased concerns about the country's security situation.

According to the Nacional Consultancy Center (CNC) poll, 18% disapprove of the president and his policies.

Two thirds of Colombians who took part in the poll were positive about the future of their country. 28% was pessimistic about the future.

Santos scored lowest in the approval of his general security policy and the policies towards left-wing guerrilla groups and right-wing neo-paramilitary groups and drug gangs.

The polls carried out by the CNC traditionally show a higher approval rating than those carried out by other pollsters like Gallup.
