Shaming Men

There are a number of ways that some people try to shut down men's voices.

Here is a small sampling. How many have been heard here at DU?

Charge of Irascibility
Discussion: The target is accused of having anger management issues. Whatever negative emotions he has are assumed to be unjustifiable. Examples:
“You’re bitter!”
“You need to get over your anger at women.”

Charge of Hypersensitivity – The Crybaby Charge
Discussion: The target is accused of being hysterical or exaggerating the problems of men (i.e., he is accused of playing “Chicken Little”). Examples:
“Stop whining!”
“Get over it!”
“You guys don’t have it as nearly as bad as women!”
“Wow! You guys need to get a grip!”

Charge of Puerility – The Peter Pan Charge
Discussion: The target is accused of being immature and/or irresponsible in some manner that reflects badly on his status as an adult male. Examples:
“Grow up!”
“You are so immature!”
“You're not real men.” ("Kicked out of Little Boys Club for being a real man&quot

Charge of Rationalization – The Sour Grapes Charge
Discussion: The target is accused of explaining away his own failures and/or dissatisfaction by blaming women for his problems. Example:
“You are just bitter because you can’t get laid.”

Charge of Misogyny
Discussion: The target is accused of displaying some form of unwarranted malice to a particular woman or to women in general. Examples:
“You misogynist creep!”
“Why do you hate women?”
“You are insensitive to the plight of women."

What's particular funny is that some on DU will use most of these, and then in the same breath claim others are using logic in order to shut them up.

These should all be given numbers as well, so when they are employed the reply can be "#5 fail". Think of all the time it would save typing.

Number 4 doesn't show up all that often. But when it does, you just don't have facepalm enough.

Every guy knows we are not just of different genders, but possibly different species. What is obvious and rational to us is insane to them and vice-versa.

So, just for the hell of it, try some male rational answers if you're not afraid of never getting laid again.

"You need to get over your anger at women."

"Well, women should stop pissing me off."

“You guys don’t have it as nearly as bad as women!”

"That's why we don't complain so much."

“Grow up!”

"Into what?"

“You are just bitter because you can’t get laid.”

"Not really. I'm just a little bent that you make it so much work,"

“Why do you hate women?”

"I don't. I love women. Quiet women."

You all just need to man up and get over your bitterness. If you all weren’t such creepy cry babies, you may actually get laid one in a while.

I think I hit all 5 major groups.

“Man up” is my favorite. I always ask the speaker what she means by that and her response usually translate in to men need to stop doing what is best for them selves, and start doing what is best for women…right NOW!
