WASHINGTON (Reuters) A second senior member of U.S. President Barack Obamas party spoke out on Wednesday against a proposal to give the White House power to fast-track trade deals, delivering another blow to the chances of getting the bill through Congress quickly.
House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi told a union rally she opposed legislation currently before Congress to grant the U.S. administration so-called Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) to seal trade deals.
No on Fast Track out of the question, she told the United Steelworkers and the BlueGreen Alliance, according to a transcript of remarks provided by her office.
Pelosis opposition follows a warning by the top Democrat in the Senate, Harry Reid, not to push the TPA bill, which some Democrats fear could lead to trade deals that hurt local jobs and industry and would cost them support in November elections.

(13,107 posts)She is opposed to fast tracking.
She is not opposed to the TPP.
Jon Stewart tore Nancy a new one tonight.
She recently went on his show and said the Democratic party has not been bought like the Republican party.
He proved she lied.
Voting is the answer.
What a cruel joke.
Once elected they all turn into corrupt monsters.
I can count on one hand the honest politicians in this country.
My country is being cannibalized from the inside out.
It sickens me to my core.
Day after day I come to this website that is touts itself as a Democratic forum.
Day after day the members here tout the "virtues" of Hillary Clinton.
She is touting the TPP for economic and security goals for the U.S.
How sad.

(1 post)How about we increase the numbers of the AFGE by allowing the military to join up? They are government workers and should be allowed to organize. I started a petition:
