Taxes don't make policy. Taxes only warp how people behave to avoid them.
You want to cut emissions, you make policies with consequences for failure.
You want to create corruption...you make complicated, pointlessly unfair taxes.

Do they not have politics and crony capitalism and corruption there? No 1% rigging everything in their benefit, grinding the less wealthy into dire poverty?

(39,166 posts)Politics and crony capitalism and corruption is everywhere. That doesn't mean it's going to be part of a carbon tax any more than it's part of income tax.
Do you feel the same way about raising income tax? That it's all a sham to grind the less wealthy into dire poverty?
And lastly - you have no answers, only whining. That doesn't help.
