"Vandals attacked a monastery in Jerusalem and a prominent school with a mixed Jewish-Arab student body on Tuesday, and police said they suspected Jewish extremists were behind the violence.
"Death to Christians" and other Hebrew-language graffiti were scrawled on the Greek Orthodox monastery in Jerusalem, while "Death to Arabs" was sprayed across a wall outside the bilingual "Hand in Hand" school in another part of the city.
Israeli police said they were investigating both incidents. Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said that "price tag" was also painted at the monastery -- a reference to a practice of Jewish extremists who lash out against the Israeli government for actions against settlers.
Such acts usually target West Bank mosques but have recently expanded to include a mosque inside Israel, Israeli military bases, and now, a Christian holy site and a school.
Israel's Army Radio reported that "Maccabees of Migron" was painted on the monastery, too. Maccabees were ancient Jewish heroes, and Migron is an unauthorized settlement facing a court-ordered evacuation next month."

"Kahane was not right, Kahane was wrong. Arabs will live and they will live with Jews. Thats what we do here, we live together.
That is what Shalom Dichter, the executive-director of Hand in Hand: Center for Jewish-Arab Bilingual Education in Israel, wants his students to take away from a vandalism attack against their unique school.
On Tuesday morning, Dichter was greeted by giant letters spray painted on the wall next to a basketball court: Death to Arabs, Kahane was right. Large black block letters on white stone, cutting to the heart of a painful conflict in the city.
The Jerusalem branch of Hand in Hand has been vandalized before, but never with such difficult words that stood out so starkly, said Dichter. The same night the Hand in Hand school was vandalized, extremists also attacked the Valley of the Cross Monastery, with similar messages spray painted on cars and a stone wall next to the monastery.
At the Hand in Hand school, each class of the 525 students in kindergarten to grade 12 addressed the attack in the first period.
These kids are not used to vandalism, said Dichter on Tuesday. But they know theyre doing something irregular. The kids understand that this was a planned political attack, and they are treating this as a political attack. They dont feel personally attacked, he said."

"An Israel Defense Forces soldier is suspected of perpetrating a so-called "price tag" attack in a Palestinian West Bank village, Haaretz learned on Friday, following recently intercepted security camera footage.
The Golani Brigade soldier and resident of the Itamar settlement was arrested along with two young women after footage indicated the three vandalizing the Palestinian village of Luban al-Sharqiya near Nablus.
According to a preliminary investigation, the three are suspected of entering the West Bank village on 1:30 A.M. Tuesday, where they sprayed the caption "Muhammad is a pig" on one of the walls and sabotaged a construction materials shop.
Security camera footage provided by Israeli NGO B'Tselem, displayed below (video at link), shows one of the young women stabbing sacks of building material piled up near the shop.
Later, a confrontation ensued between the three and local residents who woke up following the ruckus, during which the IDF soldier threatened the Palestinians with his rifle, causing them to flee the scene."
